Bolinxiala Fm
Type Locality and Naming
Himalayan South Belt near Kashmir. The Bolinxiala Formation was erected by Liang Dingyi et al in 1991. Its type section for the designation is in Bolinxiala-Chagagou of the Zanda County of westernmost Xizang (79°25′E; 31°20′N).
Lithology and Thickness
This formation is represented by light gray massive thick-bedded limestone with sandy limestone and yellow gray thin-bedded clayey limestone, with the top unknown. The Bolinxiala Formation is more than 233 m thick.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
The basal part is built up by light gray massive limestone and contacts conformably with the purple gray moderately thick-bedded fine-grained graywacke of the underlying Gajie Fm (= Gagyai Fm)
Upper contact
Its top is not obvious in the afore-mentioned area.
Regional extent
The present formation is distributed around Bolinxiala and Gajie. It is quite persistent in lithology and varies greatly in thickness, from 180 m to 484 m.

Fossils
In the Bolin area it yields Foraminifera Globotrumcana stuartiformis, G. cf. ventricosa, G.liuneiana tricarinata, G.bulloides, etc.; bivalves Liostrea sp., Buchia sp.; Echinoidea, etc.
